Fernando Diniz praised Yuri Alberto after Corinthians won 3-1 at Grêmio, the striker setting up the last two goals, and looked to progress after the World Cup pause.

According to Meu Timao, Diniz highlighted Alberto’s work without the ball and his creativity, particularly after half-time, noting his willingness to track back.

Alberto supplied the second for André Luiz and the finish for Kaio César. He also pressed from the front and helped the defensive structure.

Since Diniz arrived, Alberto has scored only two goals, none in the Brasileirão. His last league strike came on 22 March in a 1-1 draw with Flamengo. He remains a starter and a central pillar of the attack.

Diniz acknowledged the forward’s mixed zone remark about seeking a move during the World Cup pause and said he had likely regretted it.

Now in his fifth season, Alberto has won the Paulista, Copa do Brasil and Supercopa Rei with Corinthians, scoring in finals. Diniz believes the bond with supporters will settle and, after the break, the striker will return fully focused to help.

His substitution was booed in the 2-0 Libertadores defeat to Platense at Neo Química Arena. Competitions now pause for the World Cup, with Corinthians set to return in late July to face Remo in the 19th round, date to be confirmed. Their next Libertadores match comes in August against Rosario Central.
