Fernando Seabra will continue as Coritiba head coach after withdrawing from a proposed move to Vasco. He apologised to supporters and said he remains committed to the club’s project.
According to Globo.com, executive director William Thomas acknowledged talks with the Rio club and said Coritiba rejected the deal once Vasco sought to pay the release clause in instalments. He described the stance as a show of conviction and institutional strength, praising the daily work of players, staff and the board.
Seabra pulled out of the agreement on Friday morning and was immediately reinstated to training at CT da Graciosa. He is due to travel with the delegation to Porto Alegre for a training match against Internacional on Saturday morning.
The coach expressed regret for the recent disruption, said the group remains strong behind the project and asked for continued backing from fans. He added that the staff take pride in their involvement and will work with full enthusiasm.
Seabra was appointed in December last year and is under contract with Coritiba until the end of this season. Under his tenure the team have played 28 matches, with 11 wins, nine draws and eight defeats. They currently sit seventh in Série A.
