Ferran Torres sends clear message to Barcelona over contract: ‘They have to show they want me’ | OneFootball

Ferran Torres has once again addressed his future while on his media tour in the United States, making it clear that Barcelona will need to show they truly value him before any contract extension is discussed.

The 26-year-old forward’s current contract expires in 2027 and there has been no progress on the renewal front, leading to speculations over his future.

Paris Saint-Germain, in that regard, have emerged as the strongest suitors for the Spain World Cup hero, with Luis Enrique keen on a reunion.

The Spanish international also admitted that interest from clubs like PSG is flattering, while insisting his priority is making the decision that makes him happiest.

Ferran’s message to Barcelona

Speaking to Sportico (h/t Mundo Deportivo), Ferran said he remains calm about his situation but expects Barcelona to demonstrate their commitment before renewal talks can progress.

“Barcelona have to show they want me. They can come and negotiate, and in the end, everything will be discussed,” he stated.

The 26-year-old remains under contract with the Catalan club but acknowledged that his future is still unresolved.

Ferran was also asked about reported interest from several top European clubs, including PSG, and admitted that such attention is always positive for a player.

“Whenever clubs like those want you, it’s something good.”

Return to training soon

Later, during an interview with CNN alongside journalist Kaitlan Collins, Ferran again refused to rule out a move away from Barcelona.

When asked about his immediate future, he replied: “Right now, the only thing I know is that on August 12 I have to be there and train with them, so we’ll see what happens.”

Collins then asked directly whether he would be open to joining another club, possibly PSG. Ferran kept the door open.

“You never know because in football everything can change in a minute, so I have to be prepared for everything,” he said.

Asked how he would approach such an important career decision, Ferran said his priority is simple.

“I’m trying to think about what will make me happiest. That’s all. Me and my family.”
