Ferran Torres has left the Spain camp after ongoing discomfort in his left ankle failed to subside, the federation announced, with recovery now the priority.

Head coach Luis de la Fuente has withdrawn the PSG forward and called up under-21 international Carlos Espí for the senior squad's matches against Czechia and Croatia, in Oviedo and Split.

Torres, formerly of Valencia, had initially trained and featured despite the issue, but the situation led to a change after medical advice to prioritise his recovery in coordination with PSG.

Espí, formerly of Levante UD and now at Real Madrid under Mourinho, is in outstanding form. He scored five in Spain under-21s' win over San Marino.

Federation doctors remained in constant contact with the club’s medical staff from the start of the camp and managed the situation jointly.
