According to L'Équipe, the French Football Federation will ask FIFA to annul the yellow card shown to Michael Olise in stoppage time of Paraguay-France on Saturday. The request has not yet been lodged but will be filed in the coming hours.

The caution arrived at 90+7 after an altercation with Matias Galarza, yet replays show Olise did not make contact with his opponent.

He put a finger to his mouth in front of Galarza, who then fell to the turf.

France won 1-0. Olise is 24 and has 22 caps.

If Olise is booked again in the quarter-final against Morocco on Thursday at 22:00, he will be suspended for a potential semi-final.
