The Qatari capital, Doha, will host the “The Best Awards” ceremony on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, starting at 5:00 pm (GMT), as announced by the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) in a statement released this Sunday.

FIFA selects Doha to host the 2025 'The Best Awards'

Regarded as one of the most prestigious annual events in world football, the “The Best” ceremony honors the top male and female players, coaches, and several other individual distinctions awarded by the sport's global governing body.

In the previous edition, Real Madrid star Vinicius Junior was crowned the world's best male player, while FC Barcelona and Spain midfielder Aitana Bonmati claimed the trophy for the best female player.

FIFA also clarified that voting for all categories officially closed on November 28, in line with the established schedule. The voting process involved national team coaches and captains, media representatives, as well as fans from all over the globe.

The international body further revealed that over 16 million public votes were registered, underlining the decisive role fans play in selecting the winners, especially for the best male and female player awards.

The race for the best male player title promises to be particularly fierce this year, featuring several top stars such as recent Ballon d'Or winner Ousmane Dembélé, Achraf Hakimi, as well as Raphinha, Lamine Yamal, Mohamed Salah, Harry Kane, and Kylian Mbappé.
