Pyramids learn their next opponent in the FIFA Intercontinental Cup

Pyramids now know their opponent for the semi-finals of the FIFA Intercontinental Cup. The Egyptian club will face Flamengo this Saturday, December 13, 2025.

Flamengo clinched victory in the FIFA Americas Derby against Cruz Azul (2-1) on Wednesday in Qatar, thanks to a brace from Uruguayan star Giorgian de Arrascaeta (14', 71'). Sanchez pulled one back for the Mexicans in the 44th minute, but it wasn’t enough.

Pyramids previously defeated Auckland City (3-0) and then Al-Ahli Saudi (3-1) in the FIFA Africa-Asia-Pacific playoff to reach this stage of the tournament.

The winner of this clash between the African champions and the Copa Libertadores holders will secure a spot in the final and face Paris Saint-Germain, the European champions, on December 17, again in Qatar.

The FIFA Intercontinental Cup brings together the six winners of each confederation’s Champions League and is contested annually, unlike the FIFA Club World Cup, which is held every four years with 32 teams in the lineup.
