FIFA has ordered Corinthians to pay $850,000 to New York City FC after failing to pay for extending Talles Magno’s loan in April 2025.

Dated 17 February, the ruling adds 15% annual interest from 2 August 2025, a $90,000 fine and $21,000 in costs, and gives 45 days to pay or face a fresh transfer ban. According to ge.globo, Corinthians have appealed to the Corte Arbitral do Esporte (CAS).

FIFA’s file says that under ex-president Augusto Melo, Corinthians asked on 4 March to extend a deal running to 30 June, with $850,000 due by 1 August. The sum went unpaid after Osmar Stabile succeeded Melo following impeachment.

New York City FC sent reminders in August and on 17 October, and received no reply. Corinthians later cited force majeure, pointing to a leadership change and plans involving the Regime Centralizado de Execuções and the Câmara Nacional de Resolução de Disputas. FIFA rejected that argument.

Talles Magno joined Parque São Jorge in August 2024. By December last year he had 67 appearances, 28 starts, nine goals and seven assists.

The club is also under a registration ban over a debt to Philadelphia Union for José Martínez, requiring a $1.425 million payment. CAS also ordered more than R$ 6 million to Midtjylland for the 2024 signing of Charles, in a 31 March decision with 45 days to comply. An agreement with Talleres over Rodrigo Garro exists, but payment is still pending.
