Filip Jörgensen headed straight for the dressing room after Chelsea’s 5-2 defeat at PSG in Wednesday’s Champions League last-16 first leg, ignoring captain Reece James’s instruction to go and thank the travelling fans, according to L'Équipe.

It was a bleak night for the Dane at the Parc des Princes. Making his third Champions League start of the season, the 23-year-old produced three saves but was involved in two of PSG’s five goals.

First, a risky pass out from the back was picked off by Bradley Barcola, paving the way for Vitinha to make it 3-2 in the 74th minute. Later, a handling error on Khvitcha Kvaratskhelia’s strike at 90+4 compounded the damage. Jörgensen joined from Villarreal in 2024 for 24.50 million euros.

While the rest of the Blues went to applaud the away section, he continued towards the tunnel. Near the entrance he was stopped by Robert Sanchez, the 28-year-old he usually understudies, who persuaded him to return and acknowledge the supporters with his team-mates.
