Filipe Luís declined to discuss Flamengo’s search for a new centre-forward during the current window.

According to Coluna Do Fla, the club sounded out moves for Marcos Leonardo of Al Hilal (SAU) and Tottenham forward Richarlison.

The head coach said transfer matters sit with the sporting director and that he will make any signing perform. Staff can offer views, he added, but the club builds the squad and he is responsible for performances.

Sporting director José Boto pushed for Marcos Leonardo, but Filipe Luís vetoed the move, viewing the striker as not matching the profile he prioritises in a centre-forward.

As for Richarlison, the enquiry did not progress because he is injured and does not intend to return to Brazil at present. He could assess new projects after the European season ends.

Flamengo have added three players this window, Vitão, Andrew and Lucas Paquetá, and still want a striker to compete with Pedro.
