Filipe Luís’s Monaco beat Marseille 2-0 at Louis II Stadium on Sunday, preserving a perfect Ligue 1 start and moving clear at the top.
L’Équipe praised Monaco’s organisation and authority in regaining the ball, saying they controlled the contest, and awarded Filipe Luís a rating of 7. The paper described his opening to life in the Principality as a dream start.
Monaco have six points and are the only team to win their first two matches. Paris FC, Lille, Lyon and Rennes are on four.
It also marks an encouraging European beginning for the former Flamengo coach, who left the Rio club in March 2026 to take charge in France. Monaco are yet to concede in the opening rounds.
The flawless opening now meets a major examination on Friday, when Monaco visit Paris Saint-Germain at the Parc des Princes. PSG are the reigning French champions and current back-to-back European title holders, the first big test of his tenure.
