The initial plan had Pivetti leading the side through to the clássico with Fluminense on Sunday 25. With their situation in the competition delicate, the club are weighing up reinforcing the alternative side for the derby. Even so, a return for Filipe Luís has not been ruled out.

That hinges on how many first-team players are made available for the Clássico dos Milhões. If so, Filipe Luís would make his 2026 season debut. The main squad are scheduled to train from 16:30, Brasília time, at Ninho do Urubu.

Flamengo face Vasco on Wednesday 21 in the third round of the Carioca, kicking off at 21:30, Brasília time. The derby marks the Maracanã’s first match of the 2026 season.
