Filipe Luís is poised to sign for Monaco for next season. The former Flamengo coach has said goodbye to colleagues in Rio de Janeiro and is preparing to head to the Monegasque club.

Gazzetta dello Sport reports that he rejected an offer from Milan before talks began, opting for Monaco due to a project presented by Brazilian Thiago Scuro.

Scuro worked recently at Red Bull Bragantino and knows Filipe Luís’s work.

Filipe Luís has been without a club since leaving Flamengo in March, after the 8-0 win over Madureira in the Campeonato Carioca. He was considered by several clubs, including Bayer Leverkusen and Chelsea.

If the Monaco move is finalised, he faces a packed schedule and the challenge of competing for the French title. He would also prepare for knockout campaigns in the Coupe de France, the Coupe de la Ligue and the Europa League.
