Filippo Inzaghi is grateful to have played with Zidane at Juventus | OneFootball

Filippo Inzaghi played for Juventus between 1997 and 2001, meaning he spent several seasons playing in front of Zinedine Zidane as a striker. The Italian was able to experience the Frenchman’s qualities closely during their time together at the club.

Players who shared the pitch with Zidane have often had positive things to say about him because of his ability to help his teammates and consistently produce fine performances for the team.

His individual contributions always stood out to Juventus supporters, but Zidane also left a strong impression on those who played alongside him. His technical ability made him a particularly influential figure on the pitch.

Most of Zidane’s teammates were pleased to have shared the pitch with a player capable of producing moments of magic during matches. Inzaghi was one of those players, and he has now recalled what it was like to have the midfielder behind him.

Inzaghi recalls playing with Zidane

Inzaghi spoke about Zidane ahead of France’s match against Italy last night and reflected on the advantage of having such a gifted player supporting him as a striker. He said via Calciomercato:

“I can say I was lucky enough to play with someone like Zizou: for a striker, knowing you have a teammate like that behind you is truly a great privilege. Zizou always knew how to put you in the best conditions on the pitch. Often, all it took was one right move and he had already seen everything: that’s how it went.”

Zidane made life easier for Inzaghi

The former Juventus striker particularly highlighted Zidane’s understanding of what was happening on the pitch. His ability to recognise the correct movement before it happened allowed Inzaghi to benefit from his awareness and technical quality.

Their time together at Juventus therefore remains an important part of Inzaghi’s career, with the Italian remembering Zidane as a teammate who could put attackers in the best possible conditions to perform.
