Opposing manager - Marco Silva

The Portuguese manager started his life in football as a right-back, playing for a host of teams across his career, including a six-year spell at Estoril.

He then went on to manage the side for three seasons, before spending one year at Sporting CP, where he won the Portuguese Cup.

Before moving abroad to Olympiacos, winning the Super League Greece in 2015/16. Eventually he moved to England as Silva took on the head coach role at Hull City and also saw spells with Everton and Watford and finally Fulham.

Marco Silva joined the Cottagers in July 2021, after Scott Parker had left to join Bournemouth.

After leading them to 13 points out of a possible 15 in the first five matches of the season, he won the Manager of the Month award for August.

During the 2021/22 season he lead the team to an immediate Premier League return after a 3–0 win over Preston North End, confirming the league title two weeks later after beating Luton Town 7–0 and totalling 106 goals.

On 19 December 2023, he led his team to their first ever League Cup semi-final , beating Everton on penalties before bowing out to Liverpool 3–2 on aggregate.

On 18 May 2025, Silva’s Fulham broke their previous Premier League points tally with 54. This was achieved with a 3–2 away victory over Brentford, and they eventually finished 11th.

Danger men

There’s no doubt that Alex Iwobi pulls the strings in Fulham’s attack.

His numbers indicate a player who is a danger on the ball, but he can also be a real nuisance with his forward runs. He can also open up channels for his teammates or use his clever passing to create space.

Following Samuel Chukweze’s assist in Fulham’s 2-1 win over Tottenham on Saturday, it’s easy to see how his ability to create and score goals will be one for City to watch on Tuesday.

But it will be important that we keep a close eye on him as his defensive skills are also one of his key attributes.

Two other players to note are Harry Wilson and Raul Jimenez.

Wilson leads the line when it comes to goal contributions so far this season, and Jiminez’s late goal against Sunderland proves their ability to perform under pressure and again prove a real threat to Fulham’s attacking line-up.

Previous meeting

Last time the two sides met, we came out on top with a 2-0 win over the Cottagers.

Ilkay Gundogan saw us ahead after 21 minutes, before Erling Haaland’s 72nd minute penalty sealed the game in our favour.

It saw us finish the season with our longest unbeaten run in the Premier League in 2024/25 with ten games.

Last time out

We beat Leeds United 3-2 at the Etihad Stadium as goals from Phil Foden and Josko Gvardiol were the difference between the two sides.
