On the afternoon of this Saturday (7th), Corinthians faced Palmeiras at Arena Barueri in the final match of the Brazilian Women's Super Cup, ending in a 1-1 draw. The goal for the Brabas was scored by forward Jaqueline at the beginning of the first half. However, in the penalty shootout, the Alvinegro was defeated with a score of 5-4, securing second place in the competition.

With the runner-up position, the Brabas earned R$ 600,000 in their coffers. Their archrival, on the other hand, took home R$ 1 million. Despite this, the club from Parque São Jorge remains the tournament's most successful team. Out of the five editions so far, the Alvinegro has participated in all, winning three times (2022, 2023, and 2024) and finishing as runners-up twice (2024 and 2025).

In an interview with Corinthians TV before the match, the president of the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF), Samir Xaud, commented on the Brabas' campaign in the Champions Cup – Club World Cup of the sport. The Alvinegro defeated Gotham FC from the United States 1-0 in the semifinal. In the final, however, they lost to Arsenal 3-2 in extra time.

“It was a pleasure. I believe the girls played really well. I was cheering, I was outside Brazil following the game. After this representation, I think the eyes of the whole world are turning to the potential of our women's football. We were a bit short at the end, maybe a bit of luck, but the girls represented very well. I think all Brazilians who love women's football congratulated them”, he began.

Then, the official detailed the planning being done by the entity aiming for the 2027 Women's World Cup in Brazil: “We have been working since the first month of management to strengthen women's football. We already knew we would have a World Cup here in Brazil, so the CBF was concerned about this, as was this management, betting on greater investment. It is a record investment in this match and this tournament. And we hope to invest more and more and promote women's football.”

“I believe these are two of the main teams in women's football today, along with Cruzeiro, and the girls play really well. We will have a milestone in this World Cup and, God willing, leave this trophy here. The girls of the National Team deserve it, they have been evolving a lot. And I believe that by strengthening grassroots football and women's football, we will also be strengthening our National Team,” he commented.

Besides the Champions Cup and the Brazilian Women's Super Cup, the Brabas will still have: the Brazilian Championship, Conmebol Libertadores, and the Copa do Brasil. The Corinthians Women's team will return to the field next Friday, the 13th, at 9 PM (Brasília time), at Arena MRV, for the debut in the Brasileirão of the sport, in which the Alvinegro is a seven-time champion.
