Fiorentina could ‘take legal action’ against Grosso to terminate contract

Fiorentina are reportedly weighing legal action against dismissed coach Fabio Grosso, a move that could spare them his remaining salary on disciplinary grounds.

Sky Sport Italia and La Gazzetta dello Sport report that club lawyers are examining potential disciplinary proceedings to establish just cause for dismissal, which would remove the need to pay the rest of his contract.

Grosso was sacked late on Sunday after losing the opening three matches of the Serie A season. Paolo Vanoli has replaced him, having spent much of last term on the bench to help save them from relegation after an equally disastrous start under Stefano Pioli.

The reports add that the club want to show the dismissal was necessary because Grosso told director Fabio Paratici he could not continue due to fundamental disagreements with transfer strategy.

Despite stating he could not carry on, there were rumours he threatened not to report to work at the Viola Park complex on Monday. He did not, however, tender his resignation.
