Fiorentina are close to agreeing a loan deal with Ligue 1 side Lens for striker M’Bala Nzola, who only moved to Tuscany this time last year.
According to reports on Wednesday afternoon, the 27-year-old is set to join the Ligue 1 side on loan with a right to buy set at a price of €9m.
Nzola joined La Viola on a permanent deal from relegated Spezia last August, at a reported fee of €12m. The Angolan forward struggled to replicate his form in front of goal after the move, netting just three times in Serie A from 33 outings.
He almost kept Spezia up single-handedly the year prior in the 2022-23 season, contributing with 13 goals from 31 appearances.
Nzola’s impending exit will give Fiorentina a boost in their pursuit of Genoa striker Albert Gudmundsson, who remains Raffaele Palladino’s primary target this transfer window.
Genoa, however, are reluctant to sign off on a deal for Gudmundsson until they have secured an agreement for his replacement.
