Fiorentina president Rocco Commisso discussed the challenges that Serie A poses to investors.

In an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport, the American chairman of the Viola went in detail about foreign ownerships investing in Italian football clubs with a special mention for Roma’s Friedkin Group.

“I believe that this institutional inaction is an Italian disease. We must protect football by enforcing the rules and following new paths, but in Italy we never manage to do so.”

“It is not possible to change the system to obtain more resources and guarantee a balance between income and expenditure. Those who invest in Italian football today have to continually clear up and put in more money: a bottomless pit.”

“In the second three years of my presidency I put in the same money as in the first three years… I believe the Friedkins have already invested almost a billion euros in Roma.”

“Do you want to know the truth? The only time the owners will be able to recover the costs incurred is when they resell the club, if they have not gone bankrupt beforehand. Because in the club, as long as they have it, they will dump money without any of it coming back.”
