Fiorentina v Lazio combined XI gives Viola a slight edge

Fiorentina host Lazio at the Artemio Franchi in Serie A’s round-32 curtain-closer on Monday, with both sides resurgent after bleak starts. Despite Lazio sitting 12 points ahead, a role-by-role view suggests the Viola hold a slight edge in a 4-3-3 combined XI. It even hints Paolo Vanoli may possess marginally more individual quality than Maurizio Sarri.

According to The Laziali, the goalkeeper call is tight, yet David De Gea gets the nod over Ivan Provedel, who posted 12 clean sheets in 27 league games before injury. Dodo is a straightforward pick at right-back ahead of Adam Marusic, whose attacking output can frustrate.

At centre-back, Mario Gila partners Alessio Romagnoli, chosen over Pietro Comuzzo or Marin Pongracic and captain Luca Ranieri respectively. On the left, Fabiano Parisi is preferred, even if often used inverted, and would probably outperform Robin Gosens and Nuno Tavares, who have been inconsistent.

In midfield, Nicolo Fagioli slots to the right despite recent regista duties, with Nicolo Rovella anchoring deep. His injury has left Lazio without his distribution, which could help explain their modest 32 goals from 31 rounds. Kenneth Taylor completes the trio after impressing quickly and becoming a fan favourite.

Up front, Albert Gudmundsson starts on the right, not his most natural berth and not his best campaign, but devastating on song. Moise Kean is almost uncontested at striker, though his fitness remains to be seen. Mattia Zaccagni edges Pedro, Tijjani Noslin, Jack Harrison and Manor Solomon on the left.
