Everton striker Beto is on Fiorentina’s centre-forward shortlist.

According to BBC reporter Simon Stone, the Italian club will try to sign the Guinea-Bissau striker on loan if they cannot secure Joshua Zirkzee’s services.

Everton striker Thierno Barry has scored four goals in two games this season, cranking up the pressure on Beto.

Beto has bagged 25 goals in 112 appearances for the Merseyside outfit since joining for around £25.3 million in 2023.

Everton must tread carefully

Everton need to consider whether they should allow aBeto to leave, particularly with the transfer window closing soon and the player in the final year of his contract.

His lack of consistency since arriving at the club makes a departure understandable, but scrambling for another striker this late in the window could create more problems.

Barry has started the campaign brilliantly, but Everton should still have genuine competition for the position rather than relying entirely on him,

Beto has not lived up to expectations, but he is an experienced Premier League forward who can offer something different from Barry.

Much will also depend on the financial package Fiorentina are prepared to offer.

If Everton are only being offered a loan or a modest fee that would not give them enough money to bring in a quality replacement, keeping Beto could be the smarter option.

With little time left to act, retaining him to compete with Barry may ultimately be more sensible than leaving the squad short.
