Fire at Marakana before Red Star v Lille, around 100 away fans expected

Lille travel to Red Star Belgrade on Thursday at 18:45 seeking to overturn a 1-0 first-leg defeat at Pierre-Mauroy. The Rajko Mitic Stadium, the Marakana, is set to show fire damage from the weekend derby.

Red Star beat eternal rivals Partizan 3-0 on Sunday to go four points clear in Serbia. According to L'Équipe, Partizan ultras started a large blaze in the away end after Marko Arnautovic made it two before the hour, forcing a stoppage before play resumed.

Images of the empty ground late on showed the fire had gutted much of the visitors' section, with many seats torn out. The damage will still be visible for the Europa League play-off return, but Lille's following will not be moved.

Around 100 travelling supporters are expected.

Dejan Stankovic's side are unbeaten in 11 matches, with 9 wins and 2 draws.
