Real registered their first clean sheet since four April, but the three points proved out of reach.
According to Diario Vasco, the clean sheet ended a run that had lasted too long, a relief for Matarazzo, Remiro and Marrero and for the txuri-urdin support.
The previous shut-out came on four April 2026 against Levante at Anoeta, a 2-0 home win secured by Jon Martín and Brais.
It was a relatively straightforward contest. Real struck in the 29th minute, Levante rarely troubled Remiro and, late on, Brais closed it out.
On the eve of the cup final, that victory lifted confidence for the meeting with Atlético de Madrid. It also nudged Real closer to the Champions League places, a target that ultimately slipped away, although the triumph at La Cartuja softened the blow.
