A year packed with standout performances

Mayele’s season was nothing short of spectacular from start to finish:

  • African champion with Pyramids FC, scoring a decisive goal in the final against Mamelodi Sundowns.
  • Top scorer of the CAF Champions League with 9 goals.
  • Registered a hat-trick in the FIFA International Cup final against Al Ahli Saudi.
  • With the national team, he helped the Leopards secure a spot in the intercontinental playoffs for the 2026 World Cup and qualify for AFCON 2025.

With this triumph, Mayele becomes only the third Congolese player to claim this trophy, following in the footsteps of Trésor Mputu in 2009 and Firmin Mubele in 2014. He was also included in the extended shortlist for African Player of the Year, although he did not make the final trio led by Achraf Hakimi.
