Several talents from La Masia got to train and play under Hansi Flick during the German coach’s first season in charge of FC Barcelona. Among these players who made their senior debuts with the first team last season was also Dani Rodriguez, who was unfortunate enough to suffer an injury in this very debut.

The 20-year-old winger remains one of the most promising talents in the Blaugrana reserve team, and has received plenty of offers during the last transfer window. However, he decided to stay at the club, even though he will still be playing mainly for the Barcelona B team, which was relegated last season.

SPORT has highlighted 5 different reasons why the youngster decided to remain at Barcelona despite these offers.

1: The player has no doubts about his future

While the offers he received could have been compelling for a player at his stage of career, Rodriguez was quite clear that he wants to succeed with the Blaugrana club, where he has been training since 2019 and where he has grown a lot as a player.

2: Rodriguez wants to make it to the first team gradually

Although his goal of getting more playing opportunities with the first team has become more difficult following the arrivals of Roony Bardghji and Marcus Rashford, he still wants to remain at the club. He would have left if Barcelona had pushed him, but that too, only for a loan with no purchase option.

3: Looking for greater continuity

Despite the progress he made last season, injuries and physical problems still remain a weakness for the young winger. Thus, for now, the player’s priority is to get the required continuity instead of looking for a new challenge at another club.

4: Patience

Rodriguez is willing to take a more patient approach, and despite the examples of Yamal, Cubarsi, and Bernal, he is ready to take the path of Fermin and Casado, i.e., going to the first team with constant work and determination.

5: Helping Barcelona Atletic

Lastly, helping Barcelona Atletic, that faced relegation last season, was another motivation for the youngster as he decided to stay at the Blaugrana club. This season, he wants to help his team get promoted and play a major role in this endeavor.

Hopefully, his decision to stay at Barcelona will prove to be the right one, and he will ultimately turn out to be a top-class talent for the Catalan side in the future.
