Oxford United have announced the signing of Filip Krastev from Lommel on loan. Krastev has been at the club since 2020 but has not made a single appearance for the side. Lommel are part of the City Group and it is yet another example of how multi-club ownership works and creates bizarre situations whereby players are never really part of the clubs they sign for, but part of a wider system that dictates where they end up.
Oxford United will be Krastev’s eight loan spell since joining Lommel, with the club having been in the Belgian second tier for the entire time he has been at the club. Krastev joined from Slavia Sofia and has spent time with Troyes, Cambuur, Levski Sofia (twice), Los Angeles FC and PEC Zwolle last season. Krastev had a strong campaign in the Eredivisie with six goals and four assists in 32 games.
Lommel themselves have had a strong start to the season with two wins and two draws from their opening four games in the Challenger Pro League.
