Liverpool convincingly beat West Ham at Anfield to strengthen their hopes of Champions League qualification.

Goals from Hugo Ekitike, Virgil van Dijk, Alexis Mac Allister, Cody Gakpo and an Axel Disasi own goal secured a dominant 5-2 win for Arne Slot’s side, with Tomas Soucek and Taty Castellanos getting the goals for the visitors.

Ekitike set the tone for the afternoon with a goal on five minutes, firing into the bottom corner after being found by Ryan Gravenberch to score his 11th league goal of the season.

It was two 20 minutes later through a trademark van Dijk header, before Mac Allister scored his second goal in two games to make it three before the break.

The Hammers were given a glimmer of hope after the restart when Soucek finished from a Malick Diouf cross, but Liverpool restored their three-goal advantage through a deflected shot from Gakpo.

While Castellanos’ close-range header added to Liverpool’s nerves late on, they were calmed when Disasi inadvertently put through his own net to make it five for the Reds.
