West Ham United supporters and Daniel Kretinsky can find yet another reason to be thankful to Spurs this summer, following relegation at their expense

West Ham United have had little choice but to make difficult decisions following their relegation from the Premier League, with Tottenham Hotspur surviving on the final day of the season at their expense.

West Ham United supporters could be forgiven for disliking Tottenham Hotspur for that, and as a London rival no less, especially after dropping into the Championship inevitably brought financial implications for the Hammers.

It meant player sales were always likely to form a key part of the club's summer strategy. While losing talented individuals is never ideal, they have at least managed to generate significant funds to help reshape the squad ahead of a promotion push.

Perhaps the most notable piece of business has been Mateus Fernandes' £85 million move to Tottenham Hotspur. It represented a remarkable fee and has provided Daniel Kretinsky and the West Ham hierarchy with considerable financial flexibility as they look to build a squad capable of securing an immediate return to the top flight.

From a business perspective, Spurs have already done the Hammers a sizeable favour in that respect. However, Tottenham could end up giving West Ham another reason to be thankful before the transfer window closes.

With Crysencio Summerville completing his big-money move to Al Hilal, West Ham suddenly have a vacancy on the left-hand side of their attack. Replacing a player of his quality is no easy task, but one option appears to stand out above many others.

That is why an Israeli winger should be firmly on West Ham's radar, with the latest suggesting Spurs' Manor Solomon is a target for West Ham. He finds himself out of favour at Tottenham and may need a fresh start to secure regular football. For West Ham, the timing could hardly be better right now.

They have both the financial resources and the obvious positional need to make a move happen, while Tottenham are also thought to be willing to sanction a permanent exit if it suits all parties. Alasdair Gold of The Daily Mirror revealed as much last month.

Crucially, Solomon has already shown he can thrive in the Championship. During his loan spell with Leeds United, he was one of the division's standout attacking players as Daniel Farke's side secured promotion.

His return of 10 goals and 13 assists in 41 games in all competitions demonstrated not only his ability to score but also his creativity and willingness to consistently produce in the final third. That experience removes much of the uncertainty that can surround Championship signings.

West Ham would not be gambling on whether Solomon could adapt to the demands of the division because he has already excelled in it. His close control, ability off both feet, and general level of intelligence in possession would immediately make him one of the league's most dangerous wingers.

The prospect of Solomon operating down the left with Jarrod Bowen on the opposite flank should also excite West Ham supporters. Bowen has repeatedly shown he can be one of the Premier League's most effective wide forwards when fit, let alone an impactful player in Championship terms.

Solomon's proven quality at the same level would give the Hammers arguably the strongest wing partnership in the division. In a division which already looks likely to be extremely competitive, they need every area of the team to have as much strength in depth as possible.

For Tottenham, moving Solomon on would suit their own squad planning, while West Ham would be acquiring a player capable of making an immediate impact in their pursuit of promotion. It is the sort of transfer that appears logical from every angle.

Even if it is only short-term, it's a deal with plenty of logic. Kretinsky may already appreciate the financial boost Spurs have handed West Ham through the Fernandes sale, but completing a deal for Solomon could give the club even more reason to look favourably on their London rivals.

Losing Summerville has created a significant void, yet there are few available players better equipped to fill it than a winger who has already proven he can light up the Championship. Leeds thought so two years ago and West Ham could do much worse than to follow in their footsteps.
