According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, CD Castellón end the first half of the season feeling the most aggrieved by VAR in Segunda. Three Castellón goals initially given have been cancelled and two for opponents have later stood, a negative swing of five.

Matchday one at El Sardinero set the tone. A second half finish by Salva Ruiz, from an Isra Suero cross with Ousmane Camara nearby, was first given then overturned for offside interference. Racing later pulled clear from a contentious penalty and Alberto Jiménez saw red.

At SkyFi Castalia, Agustín Sienra could only watch as Real Zaragoza levelled late. Dani Gómez ran through and made it 1-1, the assistant flagged and referee Cid Camacho initially disallowed it, then, called by VAR, he awarded the goal without an on-field review.

Against Real Sociedad B, with Castellón 4-1 up in a wild 5-4, VAR allowed the visitors’ second, scored by Dani Díaz, from a doubtful position, trimming the gap to 4-2. Douglas Aurélio converted a clear penalty for 5-2 before the visitors’ late surge almost snatched a point.

In Cádiz, closing 2025, Lucas Alcázar thought he had made it 0-1 at the Nuevo Mirandilla. Referee Rubén Ávalos overruled assistant Gorka Etayo for a foul by Camara, and Cádiz forward Dawda then struck twice to make it 2-0.

The latest setback came on Sunday in Granada, where Camara’s finish at Nuevo Los Cármenes was again ruled offside. He had even prepared a dedication.
