Flaco López and Giay of Palmeiras named in Argentina squad for September and October friendlies | OneFootball

Flaco López and Giay of Palmeiras have been called up by Argentina for the September and October 2026 international window. According to Globo.com, it is the national team's first gathering since the World Cup.

The team will play three friendlies, against Bolivia on 30 September at the Estadio Mario Alberto Kempes, then Burkina Faso and Benin on 3 and 6 October at River Plate's Monumental de Nuñez.

Lionel Messi, who announced his international retirement two weeks ago, has been included to bid farewell and will feature in the last of the three games.

Flaco was in the squad for the World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico, played in two matches and supplied an assist that proved decisive in securing a semi-final place. He set up Julián Álvarez in the 3-1 win over Switzerland.

Giay took part in the pre-World Cup friendlies and travelled to the United States with the delegation at AFA's invitation, but did not stay on for the tournament.
