Flamengo beat Vitória 2-0 on Sunday night in the 22nd round of the Campeonato Brasileiro, trimming the gap at the top.
According to Coluna Do Fla, the Rubro-Negro are second on 42 points, six behind Palmeiras on 48, and have a game in hand in the 2026 edition.
After defeat, Vitória head coach Jair Ventura said his side struggled before the break, improved after half-time, and highlighted Erick Pulgar's stunning goal as decisive. He noted they conceded on the counter and felt the second half was even despite fatigue and absences.
He accepted Vitória remain winless away, said they must be held to account and want to improve, and credited Flamengo and Pulgar. He added the scoreline might have been the same even with an 11-day rest.
Bruno Henrique scored a fine goal, celebrated the victory and looked ahead to the Libertadores last 16 against Cruzeiro. He said winning does not mean everything is right nor losing that everything is wrong, stressing shared responsibility to reach the club's objective for the year. He ended by saying they will win.
