Flamengo could receive compensation from FIFA worth up to €574,000 after Arrascaeta was injured on Uruguay duty, once he spends 29 days sidelined.
According to Coluna Do Fla, the FIFA Club Protection Programme calculates payouts based on a player's annual salary, meaning Flamengo could receive between €287,000 and €574,000, roughly R$ 1.6 million to R$ 3.3 million. The club must file a claim within 28 days of the injury, so the window closes on 26 October. Without a request, no compensation is paid.
Arrascaeta was hurt on 28 September in a 4-1 win over South Korea in Seoul. He slipped and braced his left hand on the turf, sustaining a left wrist fracture, having earlier scored and assisted Darwin Núñez.
He underwent surgery on Thursday at Hospital Copa Star in Rio de Janeiro. A plate was fitted to stabilise the bone and the procedure was considered successful. The expected recovery time is six to eight weeks.
He will miss October fixtures, including the Libertadores semi-final against Estudiantes of Argentina. A return is expected in mid November, though director José Boto hopes he can be back sooner.
While he recovers, Flamengo face Santos in the Brasileirão on Thursday.
