The Brazilian Football Agents Association has asked the National Agency for Football Regulation and Sustainability to include agents in the CBF’s financial sustainability system, citing Flamengo’s decision to delay agreed commission payments until 2027 and warning of systemic risk.

"It is possible to renegotiate because in some cases we understand the terms were not necessarily appropriate. Some contracts and deals that Flamengo accepted do not seem reasonable to us, we have sought to renegotiate. It is part of the game," he told the YouTube channel Vene Casagrande last week.

Flamengo’s contracts and negotiations department has emailed agents in recent days stating the need to renegotiate and reprogramme commissions agreed through the end of 2026. Pending 2026 payments will be pushed to 2027, and the usual commission is seven percent.

Abaf’s letter, signed by 41 agents, argues that suspension by the club recognised as being in the strongest financial position in Brazil creates serious systemic risk. The association reiterated earlier requests with letters on one and three July.

At present, disputes with agents can go to the CBF’s National Dispute Resolution Chamber or to the civil courts. Inclusion in the fair play system would allow claims via Anresf, with defaulting clubs at risk of sporting sanctions.

Flamengo’s stance follows the Lucas Paquetá deal, totalling R$315.7 million, with about R$155 million paid up front. The club took similar steps early last year to ease cash flow at the start of Luiz Eduardo Baptista’s term, when about R$3 million was available.
