Flamengo have two players in Conmebol’s Libertadores team of the round as the Brazilian quartet dominated after unbeaten quarter-final first legs.
According to Coluna Do Fla, 10 of the 11 picks came from Flamengo, Fluminense, Corinthians and Palmeiras. For Flamengo, Léo Pereira and Bruno Henrique were selected after scoring against Independiente del Valle (EQU).
Flamengo struggled with the altitude in Quito early on, then improved after the break. Bruno Henrique finished a move involving Jorginho and Samuel Lino on 15 minutes, before Emerson Royal crossed for Léo Pereira to head in on 29 minutes.
Corinthians drew 1-1 away to Estudiantes and had Hugo Souza, Garro and Kaio César included. The Argentine set up the winger to score, while the former Flamengo goalkeeper was crucial to preserving the draw in La Plata. From the Argentine side, Castro was also recognised.
Palmeiras beat LDU (EQU) 1-0 and had the goalscorer, right-back Giay and midfielder Arias chosen. Former club of the Colombian, Fluminense were highlighted with Thiago Silva, Nonato and Hulk after a 2-0 win over Platense (ARG) at the Maracanã.
The semi-finalists will be decided next week. Fluminense visit Platense on Tuesday 15, LDU face Palmeiras in Quito and Corinthians host Estudiantes on Wednesday 16, then Flamengo meet Independiente del Valle at the Maracanã on Thursday 17.
