Flamengo handed four days off during FIFA window, return on Wednesday | OneFootball

Flamengo are on a four-day break during the Super Data FIFA, with the squad due back at Ninho do Urubu on Wednesday, 30 September. According to Coluna Do Fla, players and Leonardo Jardim’s staff have been off since Saturday, 26 September.

This is their longest pause since the window opened on 21 September. On returning, Jardim will have eight days to prepare for the next official match.

The team entered the stoppage after a 2-1 win over Red Bull Bragantino at the Maracanã in round 28.

The unified international window runs from 21 September to 6 October. During this period national teams can play up to four games, leaving clubs without several call-ups.

Five Flamengo players are away, with Samuel Lino and Pedro with Brazil, Arrascaeta and Varela with Uruguay, and Anthony Valencia with Ecuador. They are expected to rejoin only after the window closes.

Flamengo visit Santos on Thursday, 8 October at 19:30 Brasília time at Vila Belmiro in round 29. They then host Fluminense on Sunday, 11 October at 17:30 at the Maracanã.

October also brings the Libertadores semi-final, away to Estudiantes on 15 October at 21:30 at Estadio UNO in La Plata, a venue the Argentine club has confirmed. After playing Bahia on 18 October at Arena Fonte Nova, the return leg is on 22 October at 21:30 at the Maracanã.

Flamengo top the Brasileirão on 60 points, three clear of Palmeiras, so the post-break work is key to protecting first place.
