Erick Pulgar and Flamengo have moved forward in contract talks after the Chilean shone in the 2-1 win over Cruzeiro on Wednesday 19, a result that sealed a place in the Libertadores quarter-finals.

According to GE, Flamengo have offered Pulgar a new deal running to the end of 2028 with a pay rise. The financial impasse is close to being resolved and the expectation is that an agreement could be reached this week.

The midfielder is a concern in this window because his release clause dropped in July to four million euros, about R$ 23 million. Any club could sign him by agreeing terms with the player and paying that fee to Flamengo.

Flamengo renewed Pulgar’s contract in March 2025, extending it to the end of 2027. Previously, his deal had been due to expire in July this year.

Pulgar is available as Flamengo face Cruzeiro again on Saturday 22 in the 24th round of the Campeonato Brasileiro. Kick-off is at 20:30 Brasília time at the Mineirão in Belo Horizonte.
