Flamengo have confirmed Johnny Góes will miss Saturday’s second-round Carioca fixture after undergoing surgery on his left shoulder.

The club said in a statement that, after assessment on Thursday 15, the left-shoulder procedure took place that night and went as planned without complications. He was discharged on Friday morning, 16, and has begun rehabilitation under the medical department’s supervision.

Johnny started against Bangu and left the Moça Bonita pitch on 29 minutes of the first half after falling on his left shoulder during a challenge. He departed in tears and in clear pain.

In his absence, Gusttavo should start the next match.

Flamengo face Volta Redonda on Saturday, 17, at 21:30 Brasília time at the Raulino de Oliveira.
