Flamengo lose Jorginho and Arrascaeta for first leg against Estudiantes in Libertadores semi-final | OneFootball

According to Coluna Do Fla, Flamengo will be without Jorginho and Arrascaeta for the first leg of the Copa Libertadores semi-final against Estudiantes in Argentina.

Jorginho is suspended after being sent off for a second yellow card in the quarter-final second leg against Del Valle at the Maracanã. He will be available for the return meeting with Estudiantes at the Maracanã.

Arrascaeta’s season is uncertain after he slipped during Uruguay’s friendly with South Korea in this FIFA window and sustained a fracture in his left wrist. He is returning to Brazil to be assessed by doctor Fernando Sassaki, after which he is expected to undergo surgery, with no timeframe for his return.

The semi-final dates are 15 and 22 October, with the first leg in Argentina and the return in Rio. The aggregate winner will face Fluminense or Palmeiras in the final.

This is Flamengo’s fifth Libertadores semi-final in the past eight years. In the four previous runs since 2019, they lifted the trophy three times.
