Flamengo members ‘seek’ suspension of vice-president Marcos Motta over conflict claim | OneFootball

A group of Flamengo members has filed for the temporary removal of vice-president of administration Marcos Motta, citing an alleged conflict of interest. They point to the involvement of his firm, Bichara e Motta Advogados, in Santos’s SAF process and in the transfer of Zé Lucas, a player previously of interest to Flamengo, from Sport to Cruzeiro.

The representation was lodged on 20 August at Gávea and is signed by seven political groups: Flafut, NossoFLA, PróFla, Sempre Flamengo, Sinergia, Vanguarda and Vencer. UOL first reported the filing.

The authors request that Motta be summoned to clarify his commercial ties with other clubs, with contracts presented, and seek a preliminary suspension of up to 60 days from all club duties under article 59 of the Social Statute.

In their submission they argue that holding senior posts at Flamengo while advising on SAF matters and player negotiations for other clubs creates a serious conflict. They say access to confidential budgets, salary limits and transfer targets could benefit his office’s dealings and harm Flamengo’s competitiveness.

The signatories liken the situation to the case that barred former president Rodolfo Landim over alleged influence in Confiança-SE’s SAF, under clause IV of article 77 after a statute reform led by Luiz Eduardo Baptista, known as Bap. They recall Bap’s stated demand for exclusivity to Flamengo and contend the same standard should apply to Motta.
