Flamengo are reportedly going to pass on the opportunity of signing defender Dedé on a free transfer.
The former Cruzeiro centre-back, who has not played a game since October 2019, is said to be keen on a move to the Rubro-Negro.
According to journalist Venê Casagrande, the 33-year-old would be prepared to sign a ‘pay-as-you-play’ deal in consideration of his long lay-off.
“Dedé wants to play for Flamengo? Yes, Dedé would like to wear Flamengo’s shirt,” Casagrande claimed.
“Dedé understands that a trip to Flamengo would be good for his career at this time. He hasn’t taken the field for a long time, he had to go through a recovery process due to a knee problem, but he’s ready.
“If he is hired by any club, he would need 10 days to be able to take the field.
“Dedé would accept a productivity contract with Flamengo and any other club.”
Despite the player’s desire, it seems new Mengão manager Renato Gaúcho is not interested in taking a chance on the veteran.
Journalist Jorge Nicola has reported that Gaúcho has not asked for the player, and therefore the club will not engage in negotiations for him.
