Flamengo players over or nearing 12-game Brasileirão limit

Flamengo head to Grêmio in Porto Alegre with squad decisions shaped by the Brasileirão’s new 12-game threshold for intra-league transfers.

According to Globo.com, the 2026 regulation doubled the cap from six to 12, and Leonardo Jardim’s rotation has left several players with a buffer to keep options open.

Rossi, Léo Ortiz, Pedro and Samuel Lino have already played 13 league matches, so they are beyond the limit.

Varela, Léo Pereira and Alex Sandro are on 11. Evertton Araújo, Arrascaeta, Paquetá and Carrascal are on 10, while Jorginho and Luiz Araújo have 9.

Plata, De la Cruz and Bruno Henrique have 8, Pulgar and Everton Cebolinha 7, and Ayrton Lucas 6. Emerson Royal has 5, Vitão and Wallace Yan 4, Danilo and Saúl 3, and Andrew is yet to feature.

Including Sunday’s 15th round meeting with Grêmio, Flamengo have three further league fixtures before the World Cup pause. Even if used in all of them before the window opens, Luiz Araújo, Everton Cebolinha and Wallace Yan would remain eligible to move within Brazil, and the trio have been linked elsewhere.

The domestic window runs from 20 July to 11 September, after the tournament. Plata had been considered for a move and was sounded out by Cruzeiro, but an upturn in daily application has altered his situation.

Flamengo’s greater concern is interest from abroad, particularly in players bound for the World Cup. The plan is to keep the core intact and add selectively, with the attack among the targets.
