Flamengo right wing issues push market search alongside Almada bid as Carrascal returns | OneFootball

Flamengo are advancing a move for Thiago Almada and, in parallel, scouring the market for a right winger as injuries bite. With options thin, Carrascal returns against Inter aiming to reclaim a role while Lorran competes to start.

According to Globo.com, starter Plata has tendinitis in his right knee, he went off in the first half against Chapecoense and then missed the 1-1 draw with São Paulo and the trip to Inter. Luiz Araújo, the likely deputy, has had a poor 2026 and is out with a left knee issue after a right thigh injury in February. The left flank is settled with Bruno Henrique and Samuel Lino.

With so many absences, 20-year-old Lorran started against São Paulo, and Cebolinha, who is due to leave at the end of the year, was used out of position in the second half. Leonardo Jardim said the selection was about feasibility with the resources available, noting even the under-20s lack a winger, and that he chose academy product Lorran over Cebolinha for that match.

Carrascal, who shone on the right last year under Filipe Luís, has dipped this season and angered fans with dismissals. After serving a four-match STJD ban, he is back at Beira-Rio on Wednesday at 19:30 looking to reset his Flamengo spell.

Paquetá is another option, yet he is recovering from a left thigh injury from the World Cup. Since returning he has not convinced out wide, performing better as a central midfielder or playmaker.

Almada remains the priority with talks advanced. The club also want a back-up for centre-forward Pedro, though that need now ranks third given his outstanding 2026 form.
