According to Coluna Do Fla, Flamengo have agreed a first-refusal arrangement with São Paulo for Marcos Antônio, rather than an immediate transfer. The midfielder is not close to joining the Rio club.
The deal gives Flamengo the option to match any bid São Paulo receive for the player. São Paulo must inform Flamengo of outside offers, after which the Rio side can choose whether to cover the terms.
São Paulo have told Flamengo that Marcos Antônio is not for sale at present. Any move would only be considered in the mid-year window under the Morumbi club’s plan.
Flamengo first pursued him in 2024 while he was at Lazio, but talks failed and he later joined São Paulo on loan.
After his loan, targets met meant São Paulo had to buy Marcos Antônio, paying 4.2 million euros, around R$ 26 million. They now want about 10 million euros, roughly R$ 62 million.
Flamengo remain keen despite depth in midfield. Saúl is rehabbing after Achilles tendon surgery and De La Cruz has managed minutes because of knee issues. Jorginho is 34, and within the role Filipe Luís has Erick Pulgar and Evertton Araújo, while Allan is not in the plans.
