Flamengo the only Brazilian club in global academy ranking | OneFootball

Flamengo are the only Brazilian club listed among the top 50 producers of players for Europe’s elite, placing 46th with 11 academy graduates.

According to the CIES Football Observatory study, the ranking covers the top divisions in England, France, Spain, Germany and Italy, with Barcelona first on 40.

Recent Flamengo alumni in Europe include Vinicius Júnior, a leading figure at Real Madrid and wearing the number seven shirt. Wesley, who left mid 2025, has impressed at Roma and attracted interest from Manchester City.

Flamengo are close to bringing Lucas Paquetá back from West Ham, with talks under way. The midfielder is dissatisfied at West Ham and wants to return to Brazilian football. A meeting is scheduled for Friday 16, when an official offer is expected to be presented.

Flamengo are using their under-20 side in the opening rounds of the Campeonato Carioca. The Garotos do Ninho face Volta Redonda at 21:30 Brasília time on Saturday 17 at the Raulino de Oliveira in the second round.
