Flamengo are considering drafting five first-team players for Wednesday’s Campeonato Carioca meeting with Vasco after a poor start left them bottom of their group.

According to Coluna Do Fla, new signings Andrew, the goalkeeper, and centre-back Vitão are expected to make the squad, with midfielder Allan and forwards Michael and Pedro being considered as options.

Flamengo began the state championship with their under-20 side, prioritising a pre-season for the senior squad ahead of heavier competitions in 2026.

Results have been disappointing, starting with a 1-1 draw against Portuguesa-RJ, followed by a 2-1 defeat to Bangu and a 3-0 loss to Volta Redonda. They have one point and sit at the foot of Group B.

With the threat of the relegation quadrangular in play, a defeat would all but end hopes of reaching the next phase. The Vasco match is scheduled for Wednesday 21 at 21:30 Brasília time at the Maracanã, in the third round of the Campeonato Carioca.
