Flamengo women to receive R$ 10m a year from Maricá | OneFootball

Flamengo’s women will receive R$ 10m a year after the club’s Deliberative Council approved a partnership with the Municipality of Maricá on Tuesday, with additional structural benefits for the project.

The deal is between Maricá and Flamengo via the Sports Secretariat. According to Coluna Do Fla, it sets the sponsor’s name and value and includes infrastructure investment, with plans to build a 30,000-capacity stadium in future.

Flamengo will grant the municipality official sponsor status for the women’s team and stage a launch. The contract also covers support around training facilities, travel and advertising spaces at the training centre and the stadium.

The amount represents more than half of the women’s annual expenditure. The expectation is to reduce reliance on external funding and move the department towards a positive financial balance.

A social strand will see Maricá create development hubs for girls aged 10 to 17. The project also provides for two open trials in the city and training for state-school teachers in Flamengo’s methodology.

On the pitch, Flamengo exited the Brasileirão Feminino in the semi-finals to São Paulo, losing 3-1 in the first leg then 1-0 in the return.

They are already into the Copa do Brasil Feminina quarter-finals to face Fluminense on 15 and 22 October at 19:00 Brasília time, both at Estádio Luso-Brasileiro, Ilha do Governador, with pay-TV coverage on SporTV.
