Flamengo have been shortlisted for the Ballon d’Or Club of the Year for 2025/26. The ceremony takes place in London on 26 October.
According to Coluna Do Fla, the Ballon d’Or organisers highlighted the club’s year and named them the only South American finalist alongside Paris Saint-Germain, Arsenal, Bayern Munich and Bodø/Glimt.
The award assesses performances from 1 August 2025 to 31 July 2026. In that window Flamengo won the 2025 Copa Libertadores and the 2025 Campeonato Brasileiro. Their campaign also carried them to the Intercontinental Cup final.
On the global stage they faced Paris Saint-Germain at the Club World Cup in Qatar, drawing 1-1 before losing on penalties.
It was only the fifth time a club lifted the Campeonato Brasileiro and the Copa Libertadores in the same year, with Flamengo in 2019, Botafogo in 2024 and Santos in 1962 and 1963 also achieving the double.
The Club of the Year award has existed since 2021 and judging covers more than silverware, including sporting performance, standout moments, campaigns above expectations and fair play.
