Flick approved Barcelona move for Premier League forward days ago as deal close – report | OneFootball

FC Barcelona have taken a significant step forward in their pursuit of Anthony Gordon of Newcastle United.

As already reported, the Catalan club have now submitted a formal offer worth €70 million in an attempt to complete the signing of the England international and move ahead of clubs like Bayern Munich and Liverpool.

An agreement over personal terms has already been reached with the 25-year-old attacker, and a deal is very close to being completed.

Hansi Flick’s seal of approval secured

According to SPORT, Barcelona manager Hansi Flick is understood to have already given approval for the operation days ago.

The German tactician believes that Gordon would fit perfectly into his tactical system at the Catalan club because of his physical attributes, intensity in pressing, pace and ability to attack spaces.

Moreover, the Barcelona manager also believes that Gordon still possesses significant room for improvement, particularly within an attacking structure such as Barcelona’s.

Barcelona optimistic

Sporting director Deco, co-ordinator Bojan Krkic, and head of scouting Joao Amaral recently travelled to England to advance several transfer operations, and one of the central subjects on the agenda was Gordon.

Both officials returned to Barcelona with encouraging impressions following discussions held during the trip.

This came after the representatives of the England international met with members of the Blaugrana officials in a face-to-face meeting held in Barcelona approximately one month ago. The discussions were described as very positive.

Barcelona consider speed to be essential in order to prevent other clubs with greater financial resources from making a late swoop.
