Barcelona managed to come away with all three points after a hard-fought win over Leganes, and manager Hansi Flick could finally relax at the final whistle.

His side had to dig deep and battle until the end, but the result was exactly what they needed. Flick was full of praise for the players’ efforts, making it clear that the most important takeaway from the night was securing the win.

Despite the struggles throughout the game, Barcelona managed to hold firm and get the job done.

“We’re going home with the three points, and that was very important,” he said after the match.

Leganes did not make things easy. Barcelona had to work relentlessly, and every player on the pitch gave their all. The team showed collective responsibility, both in attack and defence.

Flick highlighted the importance of players understanding their roles across the pitch—no matter the position, everyone is expected to contribute to both ends of the field.

One of the standout performers was Raphinha, whose ability to support defensively while still offering danger going forward made a strong impression on the coaching staff.

“Football is not just one thing. The important thing is commitment. Everyone has a role and a job to do in defense or in attack, even if you are a striker.”

Injuries, clean sheets and key contributions

When asked about the condition of Alejandro Balde and Eric Garcia after the match, Flick stated that Balde’s situation was still unclear and would need further assessment.

“I can’t say anything about Balde, we have to wait. Eric Garcia is fine, it seems,” he noted.

On the other hand, the coach also shared that Garcia is a valuable asset who can perform well in multiple positions, giving the team more tactical flexibility.

“He can play both positions at a high level, and I’m happy to have him in my team.”

The match had its tense moments, including a crucial late challenge by Inigo Martinez that prevented Leganes from equalising.

Flick celebrated that intervention as though it were a goal, recognising its importance in maintaining the lead and securing another clean sheet.

“Yes, I celebrated that last bit like a goal. We kept another clean sheet. It’s great, we played a perfect game.”

Flick also touched on his decision not to rotate the squad heavily. He chose to keep the core of the team from their recent clash with Dortmund, believing continuity was vital for such an important fixture.

Whether it was Fermin Lopez or Gavi in midfield, the manager trusted the group he fielded to deliver results—and they did just that.

“”We didn’t want to rotate too much. That’s why it was important to maintain a team similar to Dortmund’s. Today was an important game,” he said.
