Hansi Flick has dismissed claims he asked Alejandro Balde to leave Barcelona, as Benfica continue to be linked with the defender.

He spoke after Barcelona’s 5-0 win over Elche. SPORT reports that Benfica have already made an opening offer worth under 20 million euros.

Flick said Balde’s recent omission was down solely to the player’s attitude, and that he advised the 22-year-old to get his ideas in order before they speak again.

Balde remains on the Rui Costa-led hierarchy’s list, but any move is complicated. Benfica know other clubs are also interested, and Barcelona want around 40 million euros.

The opening proposal did not convince the Catalan club, though it has not been completely ruled out. Barcelona could accept a package with objectives and add-ons to lift the final fee.
